New York University School of Medicine, Department of Pathology wanted to make it easy and cost-efficient for faculty members to set up their own laboratory websites. The lab sites needed to feel integrated with the main DOP site yet also express the uniqueness of individual principal investigators. To meet this need, we worked closely with DOP to develop an architecture strategy that provided consistency and flexibility. We designed a series of standard templates that integrated well with the main website yet also allowed for customization and personalization. Faculty members can select from a series of color palette options, graphic elements and optional feature sets. Our development partner, DPCI, leveraged and expanded the existing Drupal backend to allow individual lab site creation and maintenance via the CMS.
